About
Diego Jarak explores the zones of friction between creation, research and technology. He designs immersive devices combining traditional media and emerging technologies, and for more than ten years has developed artworks and research-creation projects on media, memory and representation.
His works include Legible Journey (2025), From X to X (2019) and Ici et maintenant (2018). He has led several art-science projects: NANOmusée (2022–2025), Mobile Biolaboratory (2020–2023), Insitorium (2019–2021).
Director of the PoLiCÉMIES laboratory at La Rochelle Université, researcher and exhibition curator, he examines cultural transformations from orality to virtual reality, and runs programmes in partnership with, among others, the Centre Pompidou. He founded and directs the DPAN Master’s programme and the ZERO1 Festival of hybrid arts and digital cultures. He is a founding member of Colectivo Línea 60, a transnational collective spanning France, Argentina, Mexico, Germany, Italy and Portugal.
Statement
I work at the border between languages, in the in-between spaces where new forms of mediation are invented. My interest in media — as technologies and as cultural devices — lies in their capacity to shift the frames of the real, to bring out other modes of perception, other narratives, other ways of telling the world.
Emerging technologies interest me not for their novelty but for what they displace: forms, uses, presences. They open interstices, make silences visible, unsettle our sensory, cultural and political bearings.
In these zones of friction — between creation and research, between art and science — I build devices that question (a mobile laboratory), displace (a research-creation doctorate), and sometimes disturb (an anti-conference). What matters to me is the shared experience of a reality in motion, in the making, to be reinvented.
