“Voicing Artificial Entities: semiotics and cultural narratives in the development of AI and robot personalities.” The research analyses how cultural narratives and semiotic systems shape the “voice” — in the broad sense of personality and identity — of artificial entities, drawing on a corpus of literature, film and electronic art from the 1950s to today, with particular attention to the sustainable urban coastline.
